As part of this effort, CLIC Abroad and the ABAC students are raising money to present shoes to the children in the workshop. Not having shoes can be a roadblock to advancement for many children India. For $12, CLIC Abroad will be able to purchase pair of shoes and socks for a child. Organizer D.K. Bhaskar hopes to raise enough money to buy 100 pairs of shoes.
The workshops in India are a volunteer effort led by D.K. Bhaskar, an award-winning international photographer. Nikon donates the cameras. Other support is provided by Goal Zero, the Centre for Sustainable Development and the North Carolina Research Center.
Look for Gibbs and Grant at the cafeteria next week, where they'll set up a table and explain the project for interested students and faculty.
