The closer we get to leaving the more I reflect on the impact of this trip. Not just on my life, but the students life as well. I don’t feel that I have taught them so much about my culture because when they asked me to sing an American song I couldn’t and then explained that I sound like a dying buffalo when I sing. I also couldn’t show them American dance because they would never come to America to visit me. On the other hand, they have taught me so much. They are so open to sharing their culture, chi, families, homes, ideas, and much more. If I ask one to sing a song they will do it right away. They are shy about some things but not about showing their lives.
P.S. I am also bringing home a bull calf, just so my family knows. His name is India (how fitting) and he loves me. We instantly bonded so know we are discussing how I can fold him up and put him in my bag. I think I can get past security and customs, no problem.
